    In the 1980s, Miretti grew and  strengthened its position in the explosion-proof sector, becoming a market leader. 

    Before 1996, the year the Atex  Directive came into effect,  the European explosion-proof standards for forklifts posed many challenges.  There was very little literature on the subject, limited regulation, and, most importantly, significant national differences. It was a fragmented mosaic with only limited overlap and many variations in actual practice.

    This situation continued until the mid-1990s when the landscape changed with the Atex Directive, which came into effect in 1996 [Directive 94/9/EC, now updated to version 2014/34/EU]. Finally, the regulation of explosion-proof equipment in Europe was harmonized.

    Miretti, supporter of European integration and the application of a community standard, actively took part in these committees and contributed to defining and promoting EN standards. This is confirmed by the fact that the first forklift converted by Miretti in total compliance with the new Directive dates back to 2003 when the Atex Directive became mandatory. This speed of compliance was possible thanks to significant earlier preparatory work. From 1996, when the Atex Directive first came into force, to 2003 when it became mandatory, Miretti worked tirelessly to Atex certify forklift components. As a result, by 2003, the company was well-prepared. Miretti is always one step ahead, demonstrating its ability to accelerate change.
