Turning points for Ex: Innovative Projects
The results obtained on lithium trucks and LPG trucks are currently still unique in the world.
With the introduction of lithium cells in the automotive and industrial sectors, Miretti has decided to commit to engineering and technical research dedicated to the Atex conversion of lithium-powered vehicles.
The main aim was and still is to develop a certified and ergonomic “explosion-proof” protection package for machines with a lithium iron-phosphate battery that allows safe operation in hazardous areas and which, at the same time, meets the specific characteristics of this particular power source. After the first Atex conversion of a forklift powered by a LI-ION battery (carried out by Miretti in 2018), the commitment of Miretti engineers continues today with the aim of increasing and consolidating their know-how on lithium-powered machines.

Leveraging their solid knowledge in this sector, Miretti actively participates in some recent regulatory committees such as the IEC Committee involved in the International Standard ISO/IEC 80079-41 project.
This committee has an important objective of trying to harmonize and unify international regulations for internal combustion diesel engines to standardize the explosion-proof conversions of the latest generation diesel engines on a global level, taking into account the requirements outlined in the previous EN 1834-1/2/3 standard.
In addition to achieving new technical and technological milestones, research and testing have the objective of providing more opportunities to end-users. Even in hazardous classified areas, the market now has more options; buyers can choose from vehicles with different types of power sources and leverage their performance benefits.
Miretti performs explosion-proofing conversions on various types of modern internal combustion engines used in Stage V industrial trucks equipped with pollution control devices (DOC+DPF) as required by European regulations.
