DeNOx catalytic substrates are made by Metallic or Ceramic materials realized with several parallel “flow through” channels providing highly catalytic contact area. The metallic substrates have a higher abrasion resistance with stronger mechanical strength and longer operation life. The operating principle of NOx reduction takes place by injecting a solution of reagent (typically urea at 33% or 40% for marine) into the gas stream at an optimum temperature between 270 – 400°C. The system can also be adapted for lower gas temperature (up to 180°C) using special substrates and under specific working conditions in terms of fuel Sulphur content.
